In 1997, more than 70% of local homeowners petitioned to establish a new identity for their community, and by 1998, Valley Glen became an official Los Angeles neighborhood. Today, it spans more than 3,000 homes between Hazeltine and Whitsett Avenues, offering a vibrant and diverse community.
 
The History of Valley Glen
 
The roots of Valley Glen trace back to its origins as part of Van Nuys and North Hollywood. In the late 1990s, local residents sought to distinguish their area, and in 1997, a petition for a name change was overwhelmingly supported by the community. After some adjacent neighborhoods joined in, Valley Glen was officially recognized as a neighborhood of Los Angeles in 1998, encompassing over 3,000 homes.
